Samuel M. Azzarelli, 92, of Olyphant, died Wednesday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. His wife is the former Mary Orene Hayes. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on July 4.
Born in Dunmore, he is the son of the late Michael and Mary Azzarelli and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. Sam retired from RCA in 1991. An expert with technology, he built his own computer and also was an excellent carpenter and handy man.
Sam was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
He is also survived by two daughters: Marcheta (Joseph) Antellocy and Rose (Christopher) Gressell; a brother, Frank (Rose) of Las Vegas; a sister, Mary Cianci of Dunmore; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Vincent, Louis and Salvatore and three sisters: Jennie Notari, Rose Acquisto and Ann Pinto.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick's Church, 200 Delaware Ave., Olyphant, by the Rev. Scott P. Sterowski, pastor. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. All are asked to go directly to the church.
Family and friends may call on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hudak-O'Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant, PA 18447.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 53 Glenmaura National Blvd., Suite 120, Moosic, PA 18507.
