Robert E. Davitt, 53, of Dickson City died on Tuesday morning at home during his daily exercise routine. His wife is the former Mary Daniels. They would have celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary on November 26th.
Born in Scranton, he resided in Dickson City all of his life. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Bridget Skutnick Davitt; he was a graduate of Scranton Technical H.S., Delphi Technical School, Delphi, NY and Penn State University, State College. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Church, Throop, and an active member of Rolling Thunder, PA Chapter 3, Duryea, and the Theta Gamma Delta Fraternity.
He loved his wife and daughter and truly enjoyed the company of his friends. He had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. He traveled extensively on his motorcycle, was a windsurfer and an avid skier who skied throughout the world. He was also a successful Dickson City homebuilder and the former owner of Friends & Company, Eynon.
Surviving are a daughter, Joy F. Davitt of Dickson City; a stepson, Douglas Grose of NYC; and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Friday at 8:45AM from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant, with mass at 9:30AM from St. Anthony’s Church, Throop to be celebrated by the Reverend August A. Ricciardi, pastor.
Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dickson City.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM at the funeral home. Christian Wake Services will be held.
