Michael Peregrim, Jr., 89, a lifelong resident of Blakely, died in the early morning on Friday at home with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, the former Ann Barrett.
Born in Blakely, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Peregrim. He was a graduate of Blakely High School and was retired from Casket Shells, Inc., Eynon with over 30 years of service. Previously, he worked for a biscuit company in New Jersey.
Mike was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and served in Korea. He was a very devoted member of All Saints Orthodox Church, Olyphant and enjoyed his fellow parishioners making, selling and delivering pierogies. He also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and delivered his produce to family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and attending Valley View High School football and basketball games.
The family would like to extend a “thank you” to Dr. Majernick, his nurse, Nancy and his office staff; Allied Home Health and Hospice, including nurse Jonathan, aide Kristen and PT and OT staff.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Michael J., III and Nancy of Blakely: and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was also preceded in death by four sisters: Jane Ligosh, Anne Peregrim, Elizabeth Derco and Mildred Juris; and two brothers: Walter and John Peregrim.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at All Saints Orthodox Church, Willow Ave., Olyphant, on Sunday, September 25th , from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., with a Parastas taking place at 4:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place on Monday morning, September 26th in All Saints Church at 10:30 a.m., to be officiated by Rev. Paul Witek, Parish Rector. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Peckville with military services by VFW Shopa Davey Post 6082.
