Mary Lou Cook, aged 85, peacefully passed away on Tuesday night at Wayne County Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. She was the beloved daughter of the late Othar G. and Martha Moon Smith.
Originally from Webb City, Missouri, Mary Lou journeyed to Colorado and then settled in California before calling Lake Ariel home for the past 12 years. She attended Webb City High School, graduating with the class of 1956. Throughout her career, Mary Lou served as a dedicated bookkeeper at a reputable car dealership. She was a cherished member of Lakeville United Methodist Church and took an active role in the Ledgedale Fire Department Women's Auxiliary.
Mary Lou leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in her children: Ronald Cook and his partner, Laurie Walsh, Farrin Barbato and her husband, Michael, Bruce Cook and his wife, Shelly, Marlene Winstanley and her husband, Ben, Cindy Ausland and her husband, Jon. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Felicia, Danielle, Seth, Eddie, Zachary, Dale, and Ryan; great-granddaughters: Elliana, Pearl, and Penelope; as well as her brothers: Elbert and Walter Smith; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren: Aria Grace and Braxton Allen; as well as her brother Eldon Smith.
As per Mary Lou's wishes, a private service will be held at a time that is convenient for the family. There will be no public calling hours.
The arrangements are being handled by the compassionate staff at Hudak-O'Shea Funeral Home located at 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant, PA 18447.
