Leona G. Fedorchak Weston, 98, a resident of Blakely for most of her life, died February 24 at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Her husband of 72 years was Joseph R. Weston who died March 2, 2015.
Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late John and Irene Malhenzie Fedorchak. She was a graduate of Olyphant High School and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville.
Leona was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. A devout Catholic, she was a spiritual woman who had great faith and trust in our Lord. One of her most cherished possessions was her Bible. She loved quoting comforting scripture to family and friends for joyous occasions as well as in difficult times. Her favorite parting words were: “Watch for the angels.”
Leona was a past member of the Mid Valley Women’s Auxiliary and The Scranton Christian Women’s Club of which she was president for several years.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph A. and wife, Lorraine; and Ernie and wife, Carol, all of Peckville; a sister, Joanne Kolsovsky Olyphant; a grandson, E.J. Weston; a great-granddaughter, Alaina Grace Weston and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Fedorchak.
The family would like to thank her recent caretaker, Fallon Reilly for her excellent help in assisting Leona with her daily activities.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 1101 Willow Street, Peckville. Rev. Andrew Kurovsky will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Assumption Mausoleum, Montdale.
Family will receive friends from 9 to 10a.m. at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant.
