Elsie J. Browning

Elsie J. Browning, 95, of Olyphant, died Tuesday evening at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. Her husband, Edgar Q., died in 1989.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Leon D. and Ruth A. Branning. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and retired from Casual Sportswear, Dunmore. Elsie enjoyed going to the casino, scratch-off tickets and was an avid reader. She loved her daughter and grandsons with all her heart and will be missed. 

She is survived by her daughter, Antoinette F. Mackar, of Peckville; two grandsons, Peter Mackar and his partner, Keri Lapinski, of Philadelphia; and Lance Mackar, of Peckville; three nieces and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon and Paul Branning; one sister, Ruth Bilello; and a son-in-law, Peter Mackar.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant. Rev. Ginger Daubenhauser will preside. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Friends may call on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA, 18411; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
