Edward J. Mazur, 73, of Blakely, died on Friday in Tunkhannock Twp. after sustaining injuries from an automobile accident. His wife is the former Jean Drakes. They would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on May 24th.
Born in Olyphant, he was a resident of Blakely for over 40 years and was educated in the Olyphant schools. A retired mechanic, he was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Olyphant and was active as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America and was a former Eagle Scout. He was a past president and member of Olyphant Bow, Rod & Gun Club.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors and camping trips with his family.
Son of the late Joseph and Anna Schott Mazur and brother of the late Stanley Mazur; he is survived by four sons: Edward T., Robert J. and Martin J., all of Blakely, and Steven of Archbald; two daughters: Marianne Dobrzyn of Blakely and Helene Teeple of Jermyn; three brothers: Joseph of Mt. Cobb, Michael of Justus and John of Moscow. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held at 9:30AM on Monday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. Mass will be at 10AM at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Lincoln Avenue, Olyphant. The Reverend Kenneth Kizis, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3 until 7 PM at the funeral home. Christian wake services will be held at 3:15PM.
