Jane E. Walsh McGowan, 66, of Throop, died on Sunday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Her parents were the late John and Jule Ann Murray Walsh.
Born in Scranton, she resided in Olyphant most of her life before moving to Throop twelve years ago. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and was previously employed by Olyphant Borough.
Jane was a member of Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, their Adoration Chapel and the Teresian Association. She enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by two sons: William T. McGowan of Dunmore and James R. McGowan of South Lake Tahoe, California; one daughter, Elizabeth A. McGowan of Norfolk, Virginia; 5 grandchildren: Amanda, Kayla, Kevin James, Kiera & Mackenzie; 5 brothers: John, James, Michael, Patrick & Peter Walsh; 3 sisters: Julie Schwering, Peggy Walsh and Donna Nasser; 2 aunts, 1 uncle; cousins; nieces & nephews, including 2 great nieces, Maggie & Emmeline Snyder.
Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at 9:30AM at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, 200 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Blakely.
Friends may call on Friday evening from 5 to 8PM at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.
At the family’s request, contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 340 Montage Mountain Road, Moosic, PA, 18507.
