John George Glinsky, 80, of Mount Cobb, died Wednesday at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa., Scranton. His wife is the former Helen M. Spillar. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary on Dec. 1.
Born in Throop, son of the late Pauline Solywoda and John Glinsky Jr., he was a graduate of Throop High School and Johnson School and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Throop. A self-employed electrical contractor, he was the owner of Glinsky Electric. He liked to bowl and watch the Phillies.
John was a veteran with the Air Force.
He is also survived by his children, Kelly Ann Barbolish and husband, George, Nicholson; John Glinsky Jr. and wife, Michele, Dunmore; Kristine Pizur and husband, Rick, Camp Hill; Karen Glinsky, Mount Cobb; and Kimberlee Glinsky-Sandy, Madison Twp.; nine grandchildren, Alexander, Aaron, Isaac, Nathaniel, John David, Echo, Augustus, Aleena and Adriana; a sister, Lorraine Glinsky, Peckville; godchild and niece, Linda Bednorchik; niece, Judy Lesso; and former son-in-law, Leo Sandy.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Doris Sartor.
The funeral will be Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30 in Blessed Sacrament Parish at St. Anthony’s Church, 215 Rebecca St., Throop, to be officiated by the Rev. August A. Ricciardi, pastor of Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Sanderson Avenue, Throop. Military services will be held by Dickson City Veterans Honor Guard.
