Michael A. Gulbin, 65, of Olyphant, died unexpectedly on Wednesday at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton. His wife is the former Mary Grace Schofield. They would have celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on July 24th.
Born in Scranton, he resided in Olyphant for over 30 years. He was the son of the late John F. and Genevieve J. Gulbin and was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1968.
Mike was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, formerly, Holy Rosary Church, Scranton. He was as a corrections officer at Lackawanna County Prison for the last 14 years and was previously employed by Thompson Consumer Electronics, formerly RCA for 32 years. An avid New York Giants and Yankees fan, he enjoyed golfing with his brother-in-law and swimming.
He is also survived by 2 sons: Steven M. and Christopher M.; 4 grandchildren: Kayla Marie, Minerva, Sadie and Sylas; 1 brother, Joseph of Mesquite, TX; 1 aunt; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John, Jr.
Mikey was a loving husband and friend and will be dearly missed.
Funeral Blessing Service will be on Saturday at 5:30PM at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. Rev. Cyril D. Edwards, pastor, will preside. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call on Saturday from 3:30 until time of service at the funeral home.
