Alice E. Panek, 89, of Olyphant, died on Monday at home. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Henry A. Panek.
Born in Scranton, she was a former resident of North Scranton and lived in Olyphant for the past 27 years. Daughter of the Leon and Mary Blackmore Hulbert, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical School. After graduation, she worked at the Pentagon and came back home to take care of her mother and later married and started a family.
She is survived by four daughters: Joan Owens, Wilkes-Barre, Nancy Labate and husband, Vito, Old Forge, Sandra Kotch and husband, Joel, Olyphant and MaryBeth Searfoss, Old Forge; one brother, Frank Hulbert, Vero Beach, FL; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and nieces.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Henry Panek, who died in 2012; a granddaughter, Nicole; and a brother, Robert Hulbert.
Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family with interment at Elmhurst Memorial Park Mausoleum, Elmhurst.
There will be no public calling hours.
Contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
