John Youshock, Jr.

John Youshock, Jr. of Olyphant, died on Tuesday at Community Medical Center, Scranton. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Dando Youshock. They would have celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on October 26th. Born in Olyphant, he resided there most of his life. Son-of-the-late John Youshock, Sr. he was a graduate of Olyphant High School and attended Pennsylvania State University before entering the U.S. Air Force. He was the proprietor of John Y’s Furniture Store, Olyphant and more recently was employed by Eynon Furniture Outlet, Throop. He was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Greek Church, Olyphant and a social member of American Legion, Post 665, Dickson City. A loving husband, father, grandfather and son, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with his granddaughter. He is survived by his mother, Sophie Youshock of Olyphant; two daughters: Claudine M., at home and Tiffany A. Green of Throop; one sister, Florence Ponelli of Milford, CT; one granddaughter and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral will be on Friday at 9AM from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. Divine Liturgy will follow at 9:30AM at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Greek Catholic Church, River St., Olyphant. Msgr. Stephen Hrynuck, pastor will preside. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9PM at the funeral home. Parastas will be held at 7:30PM.
