Gerard J. Greskovic, 58, of Olyphant, died on Friday at Community Medical Center, Scranton. His wife is the former Judith Stevens. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on February 4th. He was the son of the late Sophie Zywicki.
Born in Olyphant, he was a resident of Olyphant most of his life. A graduate of St. Patrick’s High School, he attended Villanova University and received a degree from Devry Institute of Technology. He was retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot and was currently employed at Mr. Z’s, Peckville. He was a member of Holy Ghost Church, Olyphant and a former member of the Olyphant Lions Club. He was very active as a coach in the 1970’s for Olyphant Midget Football, having coached his son.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and son and truly adored his grandchildren. An avid sports card collector, he also loved gardening and spending time on his computer.
He is survived by his father, John J. Greskovic, Olyphant, two daughters, Debra Ann and Kristen C., Bellefonte; a son, Gerard A., Clarks Summit; a sister, Mary Oprishko, Olyphant. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Scott, Samantha, Bryanne, Paul, Kara and Abigail, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
The funeral will be at 9AM on Tuesday, from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30AM at Holy Ghost Church, Willow Street, Olyphant. The Reverend Phillip J. Sladicka, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Veterans Section, Elmhurst.
Friends may call on Monday from 6 to 9PM at the funeral home. Christian Wake Services will be held during this time.
