Robert Lawrence Cleary, 17, of Olyphant, died on Tuesday. He is the son and stepson of Laurie and Fran Munley of Olyphant and Kevin R. and Alice Cleary of Peckville.
Born in Scranton, he resided in Olyphant all of his life. A senior this fall at Bishop O’Hara High School, Dunmore, he was a high honor roll student and a Science Olympian. He was also a member of the Bruins football team. He was greatly influenced by his history teacher in high school and was aspiring to be a secondary school teacher. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville and was employed by McDonald’s in Dickson City.
He was very quick witted and challenged his friends and teachers. Because of his charisma, he had a unique ability to make friends easily. He was dearly loved by his family.
He is also survived by two brothers, Brian and Marcus and one sister, Amanda, all at home. His maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Genevieve Lukasik of Olyphant, his paternal grandmother, Ruth Uvacek of Endicott, NY and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher and his paternal grandfather, Robert Uvacek.
The funeral will be at 8:45AM on Friday, from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30AM Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Willow Street, Peckville. The Reverend Santino Fanucci, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Justus.
Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 9PM at the funeral home. Christian Wake Services will be held during this time.
