Stanley Gensiak, 59, of Olyphant, died on Tuesday at Mercy Hospital, Scranton. His wife is the former Patricia Gatens. They celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on January 14th.Born in Peckville, he was a lifelong resident of Olyphant. His parents were the late Stanley E. and Mabel Williams Gensiak. He was a 1962 graduate of Olyphant High School and an All Star Football Player. He was a self-employed plumber for 35 years.He was a US Army Veteran serving his country from 1962 through 1965 with the 82nd Airborne Division based at Fort Bragg, NC.A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, he loved attending his grandchildren’s’ sporting events. They fondly called him, “Oppie.” An avid Yankee fan, he also enjoyed woodcarving. He loved his dogs, especially his “best friend,” Max, who traveled with him everywhere. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and will always be remembered as a giving person.He is survived by two sons, Stanley and Jeffrey; one daughter, Kelly Jones; one sister Shirley Onda, all of Olyphant; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.Funeral Services will be held at 10AM on Saturday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. The Reverend Phillip J. Sladicka, pastor of St. Patrick’s Church will officiate. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM at the funeral home.
