Robert W. Pitera, 55, of Palm Springs and Los Angeles, CA, formerly of Olyphant, died on Monday, June 21 in California.Born in Peckville, he was the son of Alice Malhenzie Pitera and the late Walter J. Pitera. He was a 1967 graduate of St. Patrick’s High School, attended Penn State University and received a degree from New York University.He worked in the men’s fashion industry. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Walter & Janice Pitera of Binghamton, NY; a niece, Kelly Pitera of Seattle, WA; a nephew and godson, Jack Pitera of Binghamton, NY; and aunt Vivian Malhenzie of Mechanicsburg; and many cousins.He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Theodore and Rose Malhenzie and an uncle Ted Malhenzie.A memorial service with Divine Liturgy will be held on Saturday at 9AM at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Greek Catholic Church, River St., Olyphant. Msgr. Stephen Hrynuck, pastor will preside. Graveside services and burial were held in Cathedral City, CA on June 25th. Local arrangements are under the direction of Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.The family will receive relatives and friends from 8:30AM at the church.
