Ann Straka, 86, of Olyphant, died on Sunday at Asera Care Hospice, MidValley Hospital, Peckville after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew of 54 years, who died on August 4, 1992.Born in Olyphant she was a lifelong resident. Her parents were John and Anna Novajosky Pallo. She was a member of Holy Ghost Slovak Church, Olyphant and its Confraternity of Christian Women. She enjoyed volunteering her time to work at various church functions.She took great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed crocheting.She is survived by one son, Jack and his wife Paulette of Montdale; one daughter, Andrea and her husband Joseph Yesalavich of Dickson City; two sisters: Josephine Polanin of Olyphant and Irene Musyt of Throop; 4 grandchildren: Laura Paulus, Karin Wrobel, Dr. Stephen Straka and Stacey Lukasik; 7 great grandchildren: Jordan, Jillian, Karleigh, Logan, A.J., Andrew and Drew; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by a brother, John Pallo; two sisters: Margaret Darlak and Mary Ann Borgna.The funeral will be at 10AM on Thursday, from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant, with Mass at 10:30AM at Holy Ghost Church, Willow Street, Olyphant. The Reverend Phillip J. Sladicka, pastor, and Msgr. Joseph Bambera, pastor of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City will concelebrate. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Montdale.Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM at the funeral home.
