Marie C. O’Hara, 83, a lifelong resident of Olyphant, died on Saturday morning at Mercy Hospital, Scranton. Her husband of 48 years, Edward J. O’Hara, died in September 1992.Born in Olyphant, she was the daughter of the late J. Walter and Anna O’Malley Cummings. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School, class of 1939 and a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant and was active with St. Patrick’s Society and their quilting group.She retired in 1971 from Bell Telephone having worked in Scranton and Olyphant. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and enjoyed gardening.She is survived by two sons, Edward R. of Peckville and Dennis P. of Olyphant; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by three brothers, James, John and Robert and a sister Anne Cooperman.The funeral will be held at 9AM on Tuesday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. Mass will be at 9:30AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Delaware St., Olyphant. The Reverend Phillip J. Sladicka, pastor, will officiate. Entombment will take place in Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum, Scranton.Friends may call on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM at the funeral home. Christian wake services will be held during this time.
