Susan Oprishko, 48, a lifelong resident of Olyphant, died on Monday at home after a yearlong battle with lung cancer.Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mildred Peernock Oprishko and a member of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Church, Olyphant.She was a 1975 graduate of Mid Valley High School and was employed by MetLife for 17 years. She participated in the “Race for the Cure,” was an avid biker, and also enjoyed hiking and traveling.She is survived by3 sisters: Rose Kollar and husband, Gene of Olyphant, Jean Misiukiewicz and husband, Leon of NC and Nancy Bonczkiewicz and husband, Joseph of Justus; 2 brothers: George and wife, Mary and Michael and wife, Sharon all of Olyphant; her companion of 20 years, Tom Davies of Olyphant; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.Funeral services will be on Thursday at 9AM from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. Divine Liturgy will follow at 9:30AM at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Greek Catholic Church, River St., Olyphant. Msgr. Stephen Hrynuck, pastor will preside. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM at the funeral home. Parastas will be held at 3:45PM.
