Jack D Harrington

Jack D. Harrington, 65, of RD Olyphant, died on Monday at Mercy Hospital, Scranton.  His wife is the former Joan M. Thompson.  They celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on May 31st.Born in Scranton he resided in RD Olyphant for the last 24 years.  His parents were the late John “Red” and Catherine Robbins Harrington.  He attended Scranton schools.He was employed by Marywood University for the last 16 years and previously worked for Johnson Towing for 22 years.  He was a member of the Fresh Air Hunting Club, Nicholson and was an avid hunter, fisherman and Nascar fan.Jack was a loving husband who truly valued his family and friends.He is survived by two sons: Arthur Horvath of Scranton and Thomas Horvath of Clarks Summit; one daughter, Michelle Horvath of Florida; 4 step-children: Robert Thompson of Taylor, James Thompson of York, Donna Johnson of Hop Bottom and Steven Thompson of Peckville; one brother, William Harrington of Scranton; 8 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by one son, Jack Horvath, twin sisters, Margaret Hanyon and Mary Stemphoski and an infant sister Catherine Harrington.Funeral Services will be on Thursday at 7:45PM at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.  Reverend Joseph Sica, will officiate.  Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.Friends may call on Thursday from 5PM until time of service at the funeral home.
