Helen McVicar Morano, a lifelong resident of Olyphant, died Wednesday morning at home. Her husband, Michael A., died on January 10, 2000.Born in Olyphant on March 14, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Ellen Judson McVicar, and was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Scranton.She attended Olyphant High School and graduated from MeMe Fenwick School of Beauty Culture and owned and operated Hinkey’s Beauty Shop, Olyphant. She also worked at Scottie Electronics and Weston Components.She enjoye spending holidays with her family and loved to cook and bake.She always looked forward to Saturday mornings to be with her friends at the beauty shop. She was the best mother in the world and lived for her children, whom she loved very much. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed. She died with her family by her side.Surviving are five children, Marie Booth and husband, Kenneth, Olyphant; Michael and wife, Kay, Yakima, WA; Rickey and wife, Mary Ellen, Eynon; Jayme and wife, Debbie, Olyphant; and Bruce and wife, Nancy, Pocono Summit; six grandchildren, Kenneth Booth, Angela Noble, Jesse and Jayme Morano and Molly Morano; four great-grandchildren, Michael and Trevor Booth and Emily and Alexander Morano; several nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Michael Booth on December 27, 1994; three brothers, Jack, George and Alex McVicar; and three sisters, Mary Davis, Kathryn Hensler and Ruth Lechmanick.The funeral will be Saturday at 9:45AM from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. Requiem Eucharist will be at 10:30AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd Parish Hall, North Washington Avenue and Electirc Street, Scranton. The Rev. Canon William Warne, priest-in-residence, will officiate. Interment will take place in Union Cemetery, Peckville.Friends may call today, 7 t0 9PM and Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM.
