Mary Jean McCann

Mary Jean McCann, 53, of Olyphant, died on Wednesday at home. She is survived by her husband, Patrick.  They would have celebrated their 28th anniversary on June 23rd.Born in Peckville, daughter of Mary Mynyk Romanak, Justus and the late Eugene Romanak, she was raised in Justus and resided in Olyphant for the last 20 years.  Previously, she lived in Dickson City for eight years.  A graduate of Lakeland High School and East Stroudsburg State College, she was employed by Lakeland School District, Elementary Center, Scott Township for the last 30 years.  She received her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and was a member of LEA/PSEA/NEA.  A member of St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant, she was very active in her community.  She was involved with Olyphant Girl’s Softball for 14 years, Olyphant Quasquicentennial, Queen City Days and St. Joseph’s Center, Scranton.She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.  She was very dedicated to her family and her home.She is also survived by two daughters, Kelly and Casey, Olyphant; a sister, Arlene Sundquist and husband, Randy, Hamlin, NY; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and dedicated and loving friends.The funeral mass will be celebrated at on Saturday at 9:30AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Delaware St., Olyphant.  The Reverend Thomas Muldowney, Pastor, will officiate.  Interment will follow.  Friends are asked to go directly to the church the day of the funeral.Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8PM at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.Contributions may be made in her memory to:  St. Joseph’s Center Foundation, PO Box 388, Dunmore, PA, 18512-0388.
