Dorothy Bray Zehner

August 3, 1927 — February 12, 2008

Dorothy Bray Zehner, 80, of Auburn Township, died on Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Claudia Zehner and Debbie Sears in Dickson City; where she was and honored guest for 9 years.Born August 3, 1927 in Scranton, her parents were the late Charles and Elizabeth James Bray.  She graduated from West Scranton High School.  She was married for 40 years to the late William J. Zehner.  They were charter members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Endwell, NY.  Before marriage, she worked as a model and as an in-home pediatric aide for new mothers.Her loving, generous nature was a pleasure to be around.  Her greatest joy lay in gathering her family and breaking bread together.  She enjoyed the house Bill built for the family and was a meticulous housekeeper and creative cook and baker.  She loved her dogs and watching the wild birds.  She was a lifelong Penn State fan and for many years, a cheerful and loud Elk Lake Warriors booster.She is survived by a son, Dr. William John Zehner and wife, Susan, Clay, NY; two daughters: Claudia; Dickson City and Linda Huttemann and husband, Robert, Glassboro, NJ; daughter-in-law, Deidre Zehner, Syracuse, NY; three sisters: Charlene Lance and husband, Jack, Scranton; Marilyn Bunnell, Meshoppen; Ardith Bulhman and husband, Don, Cheektowoga, NY;  brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Clyde and Betty Zehner, Sugarloaf; Barbara Bray, Montrose; Doris Bray, Factoryville; Robert May, Austin, TX; and Dick Hall, Laceyville.  Also, seven grandchildren: Richard Earl, Rachel van der Wel and husband, Robrecht, Sean Zehner and wife, Megan, Olivia and Jacqueline Zehner, Eric and Ryan Huttemann; two great grandchildren: Julia and Claire Zehner; several nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by a grandson, David William and seven brothers and sisters: infants, Elizabeth and Charles Bray, Richard, William and James Bray and Carol Hall and Ann May. Friends may call on Saturday from 11AM to 1PM at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant, PA, 18447.  The Celebration of Life Ceremony will begin at 1PM with Rev. Lester Stephenson, St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Scranton, officiating.Contributions may be made in her memory to a Humane Society of the donor’s choice.
