Mary Vasey

Mary Vasey, 86, of Olyphant, died on Wednesday at AseraCare Hospice at MidValley Hospital, Peckville. She was the widow of Richard Vasey.Born in Archbald, she attended Archbald schools and resided in Olyphant most of her life.  Her parents were the late John and Helen Mullen Ritter.  She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant and a member of the Senior Citizen Club, Jessup.  A seamstress by trade, she was employed in the garment industry and was a member of ILGW.  She loved music and dancing and going to Atlantic City.She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved family gatherings.She is survived by three daughters: Judy Budnovitch, Olyphant, Mary Ellen Morano, Eynon, with whom she resided for the last few years and Marlene Macinsky, Lake Ariel;three granddaughters: Lori Czankner, Keri Budnovitch and Cheryl Connors; six great grandchildren: Emily and Bobby Williams, Mya Czankner, Mira and Grey Grealish and Nina Connors; many nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by four brothers: John, Austin, Raymond and Russell Ritter and five sisters: Alice Burns, Lillian Longauer, Mildred Miller, Ruth Zonak and Grace Ritter.The funeral will be held at 9AM on Saturday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.  Mass will be celebrated at 9:30AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Delaware St., Olyphant.  Entombment will follow at Glenwood Mausoleum, Clarks Summit.Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to: American Heart Association, Northeastern PA District, 730 Pittston Avenue, Scranton, PA, 18505-4103 or American Lung Association,Marywood University, 2300 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA, 18509.
