Gerald T. Mihalich, 48, a lifelong resident of Olyphant, died on Monday at Mercy Hospice at Mercy Hospital, Scranton from a courageous battle with cancer. His mother is Eleanor Wallinger Egnotovich, Olyphant, with whom he resided. His father was the late Frank Mihalich.He was a graduate of St. Mary’s School, Dickson City and a 1977 graduate of Mid Valley High School. He was employed by Specialty Records-WEA for 14 years and was a member of St. Mary of the Visitation Church, Dickson City. He enjoyed playing softball and was known as “The Goose” by his friends. He was also a Hess truck collector and loved his Toyota pick-ups.He is also survived 4 brothers: Richard, Olyphant, Frank & wife, Antoinette, Peckville, Leonard, Olyphant and David & wife Sheryll, Jessup; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.The family would like to thank the nurses at Mercy Hospice and Dr. Sean McCall for their wonderful care.Funeral services will be held at 9AM on Thursday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. Mass will be celebrated at 9:30AM at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, St. Mary’s Square, Dickson City by Msgr. Patrick J. Pratico, pastor.
