Hilda Conniff

Hilda Conniff, 95, of Peckville, died on Thursday at Ascera Care Hospice at Mid Valley Hospital, Peckville.  Her husband was the late Joseph G. Conniff.Born in Scranton, she resided in Peckville since 1992.  Her parents were the late Samuel and Lucy Walsh Newberry.  She was an honors graduate of Dickson City High School, Class of 1930.A member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville; she was an avid bingo player and a diehard New York Yankee fan.She is survived by a son, Jack and wife, Diane, Eynon; a daughter, Judi and husband, Walter Wiktor, Danville; a sister Delores Philbin, NJ; 6 grandchildren: Donna Pinto, Tim, Chris and Maribeth Conniff, Brian Wiktor and Beth Biga; 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Fletcher, a son, Jerry Conniff, a grandson, Ricky Evans, one sister Lucille Warren and three brothers: Thomas, Bob and Nelson Newberry.A special thank you to Ascera Care Hospice and the 1st floor nurses at MidValley Hospital for their excellent care for their mother.Mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Monday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Willow St., Peckville by Msgr. Peter P.
