Joseph F. Kausmeyer, 71, a lifelong resident of Throop, died on Monday morning at Community Medical Center, Scranton. His wife is the former Andrea Zuraski. They celebrated their 43rd anniversary on December 10th. Born in Throop, he was the son of the late, Julius and Anna Yontos Kausmeyer and was a graduate of Throop High School. He was employed by Scranton Wilbert Vault, Inc., Jessup for 36 years. A member of the North American Fishing Club, he was an avid hunter, fisher and collector, he also enjoyed going to the casinos. He loved his pet cat “Punkin” and would go out of his way for family and friends. He is also survived by three sons: George Zuraski, Peckville; Joseph “Rocky” Kausmeyer and wife, Michele, Scranton; and Andrew Kausmeyer, Glendale, Pittston Twp.; one daughter, Judith Strein and husband, Fred, Scranton; one sister, Delores Stolarik, Throop; 6 grandchildren: George and Jessica Zuraski, Eric, Dustin and Brianna Strein and Jamie Catalano and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Julius and Albert and one sister, Mary Nodge. A Funeral Blessing Service will be held at 7PM on Wednesday at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
