Anna Hovan Onda, 96, of Peckville, died on Tuesday morning at The Laurels at MidValley, Sturges. Her husband, John T., died in 1991.Born in Peckville, she was a lifelong resident. Daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Gallick Hovan, she attended Holy Ghost School, Olyphant and was a lifelong member of. Holy Ghost Church, Olyphant. She was formerly employed by Marian Dress Factory, Peckville, with over 25 years of service.She was a wonderful seamstress and baker and loved planning Christmas parties. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her great granddaughters.She is survived by one son, John J. Onda and wife, Shirlee, Olyphant; two sisters: Helen Mineo, Stratford, CT and Pauline Saldi, Peckville; two granddaughters: Kim Onda Atkinson and husband, George and Leigh Onda Baldan and husband, James, all of Olyphant; a great grandson, Lee Jon DeAngelis and wife, Lisa; two great granddaughters, Jaedan & Gia Baldan and many nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Sophie Dutka, Margaret Kolback and Mary Hodorowski and one brother, Stephen Hovan. The family would like to thank The Laurels staff for the care, attention and love they gave Anna over the last 7 years. The funeral will be held at 9AM on Friday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. Mass will be celebrated at 9:30AM at Holy Ghost Church, Willow St., Olyphant by Rev. Thomas M. Muldowney.Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Blakely. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home.
