Andrew Maslar, Jr., 83, a lifelong resident of Olyphant, died on Monday at home. His wife is the former Mary E. Hare.Born in Olyphant, he was the son of the late Andrew, Sr. and Mary Dudra Maslar. He was a graduate of Olyphant High School and Penn State College. He was formerly employed as a bank teller at the National Bank of Olyphant and became a national bank examiner, retiring in 1981.A U.S. Navy Veteran, he completed the Navy Midshipman School at Cornell University. He was a member of American Legion Raymond Henry Post #327, Olyphant.He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant.He is survived by two sons: William A. and wife, Mary Ann, Jessup and Andrew, III and wife, Susan, Fleetville; two daughters: Carol Rollison and husband, Claude, Spring Brook and Mary Beth Acikgoz and husband, Mustafa, Boca Raton, FL; two granddaughters: Amy & Mary Bea Maslar, Olyphant; one grandson, Steven Acikgoz, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; 2 sisters: Irene Larson, Lakeland, FL and Marion Draper, Louisville, CO; one brother, William and wife, Rose, Olyphant; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 9:30AM on Friday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. Mass will be at 10AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Delaware St., Olyphant. Rev. Thomas M. Muldowney will officiate.
