Maria L. Comonie, 53, of Olyphant, died on Tuesday morning at Mercy Hospice, Scranton after a courageous four year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Gene “Geno” Comonie. They would have celebrated their 25th anniversary on September 8th.Born in Carbondale, she resided in Olyphant for the last 30 years. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise Denner Bruno. She graduated from Carbondale High School in 1973.She was most recently employed by Geipo Construction and helped build the Casey Highway. Her prior employment was at Weston, Archbald, for 20 years.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who will be deeply missed.
