Lawrence J. Lukasik, Sr., 77, of Olyphant, died on Monday at Mercy Hospital, Scranton. His wife was the former Genevieve “Jenny” Tolerico; she died on August 12, 2009.Born in Olyphant, he was a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late John and Helen Wojtovich Lukasik and was a graduate of Olyphant High School.A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal & Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant. He was the founder and owner of Lukasik Plumbing & Heating for over 30 years. A member of Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant, he was also a member of American Legion Raymond Henry Post 327, Olyphant. He enjoyed Sudoku and crossword puzzles, his computer and walking.He is survived by: three daughters: Teri Hancock and Laurie Ann Munley, both of Olyphant and Susie Smith, San Diego, CA; four sons: Lawrence, Jr., Elmhurst, Raymond, Dunmore, Martin, Oakford Park, IL and Stephen, Pittsburgh; one sister: Barbara Martinowsky, Leesburg, FL; fifteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews & cousins.He was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Cleary and one brother, Frank Lukasik.Funeral services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.There will be no calling hours.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411.To leave online condolences, please visit www.hudak-osheafuneralhome.com.
