Alora “Lorie” Reed, 84, a resident of Olyphant for over 40 years, died Wednesday at The Laurels Health and Rehab at Mid Valley, Peckville. Her husband was the late Kenneth Reed.Born on December 17, 1926 in Scranton, she was the oldest child of the late George and Josephine Ferrick Battle. Lorie was educated in Scranton schools until the age of 14 when after the sudden death of her mother, she left school to help her father raise her 4 younger siblings. She possessed a caring and nurturing spirit from a young age, which remained her greatest strength throughout her life.She shared 40 years of marriage with her beloved husband Kenny and was his constant companion until his death in 2007. She enjoyed spending time with him at the lake. Her family was her greatest joy and she was their greatest blessing. She was greatly loved and will be sadly missed.She is survived by one daughter: Linda Pochis and husband, Joseph, Olyphant; one son: Kevin Reed and wife, Tracy, Honesdale; 3 step-children: Kenneth and Robert Reed, both of Scranton and Sharon Jones, Apalachin, NY; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a brother, James Battle and a sister, Joan Morelli, both of Scranton; nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by two brothers: Frank and Gene Battle.The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Freda, the entire staff at the Laurels and Southern Care Hospice for the exceptionally loving and compassionate care Lorie received.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10AM at the First Primitive Methodist Church of Dickson City, corner of Jackson and Lincoln Sts., Dickson City.
