Joseph M. Masko, of Olyphant, died on Tuesday at home. His wife is the former Ann A. Wharton. They were married on April 7, 1951.Born in Jessup, he resided in Olyphant for the over 60 years. He was the son of the late Stanley and Anna Petrulak Masko.He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II.He was retired from Penndot with over 30 years of service.He was a member of Holy Cross Parish where he was a Eucharistic Minister and always looked forward to serving at mass.Joe enjoyed playing football in his younger years and loved gardening, golfing, hunting, fishing and picking mushrooms. He most enjoyed shooting quoits with his sons. He was a kind and gentle man who always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. Joe truly loved being with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.He is also survived by two sons: Joseph M. and wife, Audrey, Scott Township and John M. and wife, Barbara, Olyphant; grandchildren: James M., Stacy Karwaski and husband, Rich, Joseph, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Michael and Catrina; a sister, Anna Preschutti, State College; many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by a son, James M. who died on November 29, 2010; a brother, Stanley and two sisters: Pauline Stash and Fran Beilman.Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9AM from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant. Mass will follow at 9:30AM at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Delaware St., Olyphant. Burial will take place in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Blakely.Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7PM at the funeral home.Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
