Verna O’Hara, 88, of Scranton, died on Wednesday at Green Ridge Healthcare Center, Scranton.Born in Scranton, she was a lifelong resident. Her parents were the late James and Hannah McAndrew O’Hara. She was educated in St. Ann’s Monastery School and was a graduate of St. Ann’s High School, Scranton. She had a strong faith evident by her daily Novenas.Verna worked for the town of Irvington, NJ in the Tax and Revenue Office and as a supervisor at Sterling Duplicated Products, Caldwell, NJ.She enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City and Wildwood Crest while living in NJ.She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including her caretakers, Donna Demeck, Scranton and Sherry Durkin, Olyphant.She was preceded in death by five brothers: Gerard, James, Cyril, Joseph and Paul O’Hara; six sisters: Mary Morris, Ann Demeck, Jean, Regina, Mildred and Dorothy O’Hara.Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10AM at St. Ann’s Basilica, St. Ann’s St., Scranton by the Rev.
