Andrew A Cucura

Andrew A. Cucura, 59, a lifelong resident of Olyphant, died on Tuesday at VNA Hospice at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton.Born in Peckville, he was the son of Nadia Swallow Cucura and the late Andrew Cucura.  He was a graduate of Cathedral/Bishop Hannan High School and East Stroudsburg University.He was formerly employed at St. Michael’s School for Boys, Tunkhannock and Cinram, Olyphant.  An avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and his cats, Golden and Silverstreak.  Even through his illness, Andy was always there to lend a helping hand to his family and friends.He is also survived by 4 sisters: Laurie Cole, Marcia Demian and husband, Dr. Nicholas, all of Olyphant; Renee Martino of Dickson City and Kerri Mazur and husband, Bruce of Olyphant; 1 brother: Jeffrey, Olyphant; several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Buddy Cole.Memorial services will be on Friday at 6PM from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.  Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 6PM at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his memory to: American Dystonia Society, 17 Suffolk Lane, Princeton Junction, NJ, 08550-1217 or Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA, 18411.For directions or on-line condolences please visit: www.hudak-osheafuneralhome.com.
