Albert A Amoedo

Albert A. Amoedo, 85, of Clarks Summit, died on Saturday at VNA Hospice and Home Health of Lackawanna County at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton.  His wife is the former Barbara Ann Burris.  They were married for 30 years.Born in Manhattan, NY, his parents were the late Charles Anton and Wilhelmena Amoedo.  Raised in Stamford, CT, he spent most of his life in NY and more recently PA.  He graduated from Stamford High School in 1946.He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in World War II and Korea with the rank of tech sergeant.  He retired from Continental Baking Co. (Hostess) with over 38 years of service.He enjoyed swimming and bowling.He is also survived by four daughters: Kathleen J. Burton, Peekskill, NY, Lorraine Varrone, Pleasant Valley, NY, Ginamarie McCloskey, WA and Alison Cherkoski, Clarks Summit; two sons: Robert B., Atlanta GA and Richard, Statesville, NC; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles A.Funeral Services will be held at 9AM on Wednesday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.  Mass will follow at 9:30AM at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Delaware St., Olyphant.  Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8PM at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to Gino Merli Veterans Center, 401 Penn Avenue, Scranton, PA, 18503.For directions or on-line condolences please visit: www.hudak-osheafuneralhome.com.
