Patrick M. McCann, 60, of Olyphant, died on Sunday at Regional Hospital of Scranton Hospice. His wife, Mary Jean Romanak McCann died on June 6, 2007. They were married on June 23, 1979.Born in Scranton, he resided in Olyphant since 1987 and previously lived in Dickson City for 8 years. His parents were the late William J. and Katherine P. Burke McCann.A 1971 graduate of Scranton Central High School, he was employed by FirstFlight, Inc., Avoca for over 20 years. A devout Catholic, he was a member of Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant, their Holy Name Society and prayed faithfully to St. Ann and the Blessed Mother. Furthermore, he successfully organized an annual Rosary for Our Lady of Fatima. He also, was very dedicated to helping others through charitable donations. Additionally, he was a former president and coach of Olyphant Girl’s Softball, as well as active in community events and organizations.A loving father, papa, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, he was very dedicated to his family and friends.He is survived by two daughters, Kelly Patchcoski and husband, David of Olyphant and Casey Butler and husband, Josh of Easton; one grandson, Sean David Patchcoski, Olyphant; two sisters: Mary Kay McCann and Christine Howe; one brother, William McCann and wife, Kathy; a brother-in-law, Gregory Reuther; all of Scranton; his mother-in-law, Mary Romanak; a sister-in-law Arlene Sundquist and husband, Randy of Hamlin, NY; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Reuther.The funeral mass will be celebrated at on Wednesday at 9:30AM at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Delaware St., Olyphant. Msgr. Michael J. Delaney will officiate. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
