Christine M Bowler

Christine M. Bowler, R.N., 58, of Peckville, died Monday evening after a very courageous battle with cancer. She and her husband, Richard Bowler, have been married for 33 wonderful and happy years.Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Stephen M. and Pauline Suvock Kosik. Raised in Eynon, graduate of Valley View High School, then Scranton State General School of Nursing in 1974. She began her nursing career at the Mercy Hospital, Scranton with her most recent employment being with the Commonwealth of Pa. Dept. of Labor and Industry, where she worked for 15 years.Christine felt her main purpose in life was to be a loving wife and mother. She was dedicated to her family and was a very hard worker. She was always there when someone needed her. She loved being a nurse and she loved to dance. She was dedicated to her faith, which gave her great strength and peace.She is survived by her husband, Richard; their son, Richard G.; and daughter, Stephanie Bowler Sweeney and her husband, Jeff.The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, as well as Hospice Community Center for the loving care they provided Christine.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Delaware St., Olyphant, concelebrated by Rev. Thomas M. Muldowney, V.G. and Msgr. Michael J. Delaney, pastor.Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Holy Ghost Cemetery, Blakely.The family will accept contributions made on Christine’s behalf.
