Rinia Dragtenstein, 66, of Peckville, died on Tuesday afternoon at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton. Born in Paramaribo, Suriname, she was a resident of Peckville for the last 6 years and previously resided in New York City.Rinia truly enjoyed helping others and it was evident in the work she did as a nurse’s aide. She was a very charitable person, a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: Waheed and Edith Murad of Georgia and Milton Dragtenstein of New York; a daughter, Stephanie Dragtenstein of New York; a brother, Iwan Vlijter of Suriname; three sisters: Lucie Prade of New York, Beatrice Hughes of New Jersey and Victorine Braams of New York; four grandchildren: Renee, Omari, Jadon and Anton; a daughter-in-law, Aine Cahill; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents Renee Hughes and Emelie Braams; her step-father, Manfred Braams; two brothers: Dennis Braams and Emero Ykenhoff; and a granddaughter Adriana.A private visitation will be held at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.
