Elizabeth “Betty” E. Stepkovitch, 83, of Olyphant, died unexpectedly Monday morning at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. Her husband, Louis J., died on March 15, 2010. They were married for 59 years.Born in Jessup, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Kaschak. A graduate of Jessup High School and Empire Beauty School, Betty was a member of Holy Cross Parish, formerly St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant. She enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting.Betty’s family would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Moses Taylor Hospital Emergency Room for their valiant efforts.Surviving are a son, Ronald and wife, Deborah, Olyphant; a granddaughter, Sandra, Olyphant, and fiancé, Daniel Clarkson, Dunmore; two sisters-in-law, Stella Stepkovitch, Bridgeport, Conn.; and Carmella Kaschak, Dover, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Kaschak; and a sister, Marie Mark.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, 200 Delaware Ave., Olyphant. Monsignor Michael J. Delaney will officiate.
