Joseph J. Hudak, 86, of Peckville, died on Wednesday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. His wife, the former Mary Ann B. Kondash died on October 12, 2009. They were married for 54 years.
Born in Dickson City, he resided in Blakely/Peckville since the early 1960′s. His parents were John G. & Josephine Slonsky Hudak, Sr. A graduate of Dickson City High School, he was a member of Holy Cross Parish, formerly Holy Ghost Church, Olyphant.
Joe was a self-employed painter, carpenter, plumber, and roofer who could fix just about anything. Many will remember him as the official greeter and doorman at his daughter’s funeral home since 1998. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sporting events on TV, travel, trips to the casinos and more recently, being with his grandchildren and great grandson.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna M. O’Shea and husband, Patrick J. “P.J.”, Olyphant and Doreen H. Coleman and husband, Patrick N., Carbondale; two grandchildren: Ashley L. Miranda and husband, Jonathan P., Raleigh, NC and Patrick J. O’Shea, IV, Olyphant; a great grandson, Nathan Elias Miranda; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, George, Michael and John, Jr. and four sisters, Sonya, Irene Mozaleski, Elizabeth Zuraski and Josephine Padlo.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 12 noon at Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Delaware St., Olyphant. Msgr. Micheal J. Delaney, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery, Blakely.
