Francis R. “Cub” Thomas, 81, of Scott Twp., died on Thursday morning at Mid Valley Health Care Center, Peckville. He is survived by his wife, the former Marlene M. Stracham. They would have been married for 59 years this Oct. 18.Born in Blakely, he resided in Scott Twp. more than 50 years. His parents were the late Francis R. and Rose Mary Malaker Thomas. Frank was a graduate of Blakely High School, and had an associate’s degree from Penn State University. He retired in 1992 from Bell Telephone Co. of PA with more than 35 years of service. He was a member of Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant. He was an Army veteran during the Korean Conflict, having served three years with the Army Security Agency.A loving husband, father and grandfather, he loved his family and friends and his beloved pets.He is also survived by a son, Robert and his wife, Cheryl, Scott Twp.; his daughter, Kathy Snarcavage, Jermyn; a sister, Mary Lou Yanchik, Peckville; two grandchildren, Michael and Katelyn Thomas; and many nieces and nephews.He was also preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Voto.Friends may call on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home Inc., 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant. A blessing service will be held at 9:30 by Monsignor Michael J. Delaney, pastor, at the funeral home.Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale.
