Pauline Saldi, a lifelong resident of Peckville, died on Sunday evening at VNA Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. Her husband of 50 years, Arthur R., died on May 22, 2008.Born in Peckville, daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Gallick Hovan, she was a graduate of Holy Ghost School, Olyphant, and was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville.Pauline and family would like to thank Dr. Susan Biancarelli, Dr. Rao, Dr. Yeager, staff and nurses at Geisinger Community Medical Center and also VNA Hospice.She is survived by a daughter, Joann B. Shumski, Peckville; a son, Arthur and wife, Karen, Peckville; a sister, Helen Mineo, California; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Damian Shumski; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Katarina Shumski; and several nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret Kolback, Sophie Dutka, Mary Hodorowski and Anna Onda; and a brother, Stephen Hovan.Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Willow Street, Peckville.
